A serene retreat with a duality of grounded and airy elements in a modern Japanese bedroom.
Serving as a guest bedroom, giving a warm vibe with celebrated flexibility in usage. Utilization of neutral tones with minimal contrasting outlines create a dynamic play- giving visual interest and comfort at the same time.
A modern Japanese room is created by adding a platform. This platform increases the usable floor space and adds multiple variations in layouts for when guests stays over.
At the end of the platform features a miniature section of tatami mats, and additional hidden compartments below that to store away beddings and blankets.
The tatami section also serves as a resting area prior to the bed section, cushioning the usage of space.
One of the feature walls is a grounded, dark gray wallpaper wall. Contrasting the gray, we added the wooden slats perpendicular to the feature to allow the eyes to focus on the most restful corner in the room.
A hidden door is built, furnished with the same wallpaper which leads into the ensuite bathroom.
The bathroom also uses the same duality contrast, with the black slated tile as an accent wall, and the white oak custom built vanity, polished chrome and mixed metal white finishes to balance them off.
In front of the vanity sits a partition of custom built cabinet with sliding door, giving privacy to the toiletry and bathing section from the vanity.
To give that natural combo look of wood and stone, a neutral gray large porcelain slab was selected as both the main flooring and main shower tiling.
Mosaic clover tile was selected to add a layer of sophistication to the shower floor, while selecting a hand painted Limestone tile as a main feature patterning in the shower niche area.
The partition wall also serves as a hidden storage, for storing toiletries and a toiletry holder that also acts as a sliding door handle when used.
